Heroes On the Water - Project Victory

Team Ocean Kayak’s Vincent Rinando, Jeff Herman, and Rick Spillman had the pleasure of hosting the Heroes on the Water Project Victory event in Danburry.   We had four of our heroes attend this event with the team.  We were invited to fish some private bass lakes south of Houston.  We started out fishing from the bank, then loaded up the kayaks and fished throughout the lakes.  We had a blast and all the soldiers caught fish.  All four of these soldiers were from all over the United States.  Most were in Houston for treatment, and most were expected to stay anywhere from 6-8 weeks.  That’s a long time to be away from friends and family, and from speaking with them to do miss their families.  It was nice to get them out of the hotel for a change of scenery and for some laughs.  We had a great time, the weather could not have been nicer.  It never amazes me anymore, the fine men and women of our armed forces. Their attitude is awesome, and we spent the entire day laughing, joking, fishing, and relaxing.   Thanks to HOW for the wonderful program and for giving us the opportunity and privilege to participate.
